Breeding basics and curing—systems fans rewrite a lot on the wiki for a reason.
How far is a village from spawn?
In 64 Java worlds I tested, the nearest village sat about 500 blocks from spawn in the middle. 57 of 64 had one inside 1,000 blocks. Full playtest: How far is a village from spawn?.
Do any villagers sell paper?
No. Village villagers buy paper. They do not sell it. A novice librarian or cartographer pays 1 emerald for 24 paper. If you need paper, craft it from sugar cane.
How do you breed villagers?
Give willing villagers enough food (bread, carrots, potatoes, or beetroots), ensure beds for the baby, and enough space. Job sites handle professions, not the breed trigger itself.
